8 Canadian Environmental Programs Launch Call for Proposals:
The Government of Canada has launched its annual call for proposals for eight environmental funding programs.
Programs Include.
Aboriginal Fund for Species at Risk: Supports and promotes the conservation, protection, and recovery of target species and their habitats on Indigenous lands or traditionally used territories.
Habitat Stewardship Program for Species at Risk: Contributes to the recovery objectives and population goals of species at risk listed on Schedule 1 of the Species at Risk Act (SARA) and prevents others from becoming a conservation concern.
EcoAction Community Funding Program: Protects, rehabilitates, enhances, and sustains the natural environment.
Atlantic Ecosystems Initiatives: Improves the health, productivity, and long-term sustainability of ecosystems in Atlantic Canada.
Environmental Damages Fund: Directs funds received from fines, court orders and voluntary payments to priority projects that benefit Canada’s natural environment.
Great Lakes Protection Initiative: Addresses the most significant environmental challenges affecting Great Lakes water quality and ecosystem health.
Lake Winnipeg Basin Program: Reduces excessive nutrients like phosphorus from entering the lake, enhances collaboration throughout the basin, and supports the engagement of Indigenous Peoples on freshwater issues.
Zero Plastic Waste Initiative: This fund supports projects that use innovative approaches leading to measurable, positive impacts to reduce plastic waste and pollution in Canada.
